Today's Demre district center and the outskirts of the ancient city of Myra is located on the plains of the same name. Myros river (today's Demre River) channel to the west of the city with convenient transportation was provided for connection to the sea. Located on the other side of the Channel Andriake (Çayağzı) of the marine transportation and commerce were carried out in the harbor. Especially the ancient city of Myra Lycian rock tombs, Roman theater and the Byzantine church of St. Nicholas (Santa Claus) is famous.
