Xanthos Örenyeri

Fethiye 46 km. from Xanthos, located near the village of Kınık, it was Lycia's largest administrative center in ancient times. BC 545 until the city is independent of the sovereignty of Persia, was burnt completely after approximately century. After this fire the city was rebuilt, even BC II. century has undertaken the task of being the capital of the Lycian Union. Then the city came under the control of the Romans, then entered and remained in until the Arab invasions of the 7th century Byzantine Byzantine rule. In the structures built every civilization settled Lycian traditions, Hellenistic and Roman period showing the effects of these centers has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988.
